Our forum was developed to invite all Nazarenes into a conversation on revisioning. As I’ve reflected on growing churches, I’ve been impressed with the importance each congregation's story held as a narrative of God's people in a particular place and time and how each assembly saw themselves as a part of God's continuing story being written through them.

The Church of the Nazarene's centennial in 2008 is an opportune time to reflect upon our denominational story. How do we reassess ourselves in light of our core values (Christan, Holiness, Missional) and our church’s new statement of mission? What structures, values, commitments, and relationships must we improve, disregard, or develop to be faithful to God’s call upon us?

On this forum, I’ve asked four questions I hope will guide our conversation between now and September 15 (when our forum will officially discontinue). As with any good conversation, I’m not just interested in information, I’d like to get to know more about YOU. Please let me know who you are, where you’re from, and how you see things. Knowing something about you, helps me understand the ministry context in which you’re a part.

On our forum, I’m asking that all persons register in order to post a response. I hope you won’t mind this extra step, but it helps me in identifying those that really want to talk and offer constructive comments. Also, keeping responses brief and concise helps me (and other Nazarene leaders) better digest what is said. By the way, I hope that as we converse, you'll also converse with each other as various comments are shared.

The world is changing faster than most of us can comprehend. In order to see the role of the church, the district, and the denominational headquarters clearly, it is important to listen to all voices as we reflect on our mission in the world. I deeply appreciate any time and effort you can make to offer reflections that will help us write a new chapter in the Nazarene story. At the end of this process, we'll provide an executive summary of what we think we've heard. I invite you to register or click to enter the forum below.

Blessings,
Tom Nees
